Meet Matt
I’m Matt, founder of Fairways & Dreams. I’ve spent 30 years playing this cruel and unusual game, and more than a decade finding excuses to travel for it.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that planning the trip is almost as much a part of the experience as taking it. Comparing courses. Figuring out where to stay. Trying to squeeze in one more round without turning four days away into an endurance event. And, of course, convincing everyone in the group to finally pick a date.
Fairways & Dreams grew out of a simple idea: golf trips should be easier to plan.
I help golfers put together trips built around where they want to go, how they like to travel, and what they actually want to spend. That might mean a few days walking some of the best public courses in the country, finally making the trip to Scotland, or getting eight guys to the same place at the same time without one of them completely derailing the process.
Over the years, I’ve learned what separates a great golf trip from an expensive one. Bucket-list courses and merch you’ll proudly wear at your local muni certainly help. But pacing, lodging, routing, and the right balance of time on and off the course are what make the whole thing work.
I’ve also learned that there isn’t one right way to take a golf trip. Some groups want 36 holes a day. Others want one great round, a good dinner, and enough time afterward to argue about who actually won the money. The job is figuring out what works for your group and building around that.
The best trips leave you planning the next one before you part ways in the terminal.
That’s what I want more golfers to experience, and why I started Fairways & Dreams.
